November Favorites

Yet another month, and season, is coming to an end! The moment I realised Belgium is slowly transitioning to winter is when I found my car in the morning looking like a popsicle. A good reminder that from now on you must count an extra 10 minutes when leaving the house in order to defrost your vehicle. Scrub, scrub, scrub. But hey, I'm all for the snowy, cold winter. Otherwise you can just as much call it autumn till march comes knockin'. Meanwhile, my face is finally returning to its original, smoother, pimple-free state. It's been a long time coming, I'll tell ya that much. It was more intense than ever before though. It started in June, if I remember correctly. Three major events might have caused a hormonal disbalance which in turn have led to this... vivid acne outburst.

Numero uno: I was stressing my body out. How? By sleeping little, drinking more coffee than Lorelai Gilmore, going out in the weekend, thinking that nut bars were just enough as breakfast and some other private dramas. Why do I always go for the extremes? Seriously. Oh, there goes my immune system! Let's wave it bye bye.

Numero dos: An SPF cream I am extremely allergic to ended up on my face. A nasty ingredient some SPF creams contain causes my face to resemble Venus. Not the gorgeous goddess. I mean Venus the planet: red, round, boiling hot and bumpy. Got the image? I'll go more into detail about that potion in the next post. I need to spread awareness about this since I've experienced, multiple times, how it feels when something that is supposed to protect you ends up f***ing you up.Numero tres: Due to this allergic reaction, I had to be rushed to the emergency room for a horse-sized dose of cortisone to stop it from spreading. But cortisone itself is not an innocent drug. Especially in that amount. It might lead to a disbalance in your hormonal system.

Now, it's time for a Happy Hour! Mix & blend:

  • 10ml of numero uno
  • 15ml of numero dos
  • 25ml of numero tres

Voila! You got yourself a cocktail stronger than Tequila Sunrise and that will make you want to Howard Hughes your way through the hangover.

Back to the happy ending, shall we? It's not pleasant but it's not the end of the world. Here are 4 products that are helping me through the acne century:

  • Kora Organics Clay Purifying Mask
  • Kora Organics Purifying Day and Night Cream, absolutely in love with it!
  • Kora Organics Rosehip Oil, hydrates like crazy!
  • Everyday Minerals Powders, in case I do decide to go outside and don't want to scare city people

Enjoy the weekend loves!
